1. Our Commitment
Elite At Home is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 across all areas of our business operations. This includes the delivery of social care and supported accommodation services, office and property management, staff travel, procurement, and subcontracted services. Our plan aligns with the UK Government’s Net Zero Strategy.
2. Scope of Our Plan
We aim to reduce emissions across the following areas:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources (e.g. company vehicles, heating).
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the purchase of electricity, heating, or cooling.
- Scope 3: All other indirect emissions, such as supply chain activity, business travel, staff commuting, and purchased goods and services.
3. Current Baseline
In 2024, we began calculating our organisational carbon footprint using DEFRA and GHG Protocol conversion factors. We are currently in the process of:
- Measuring electricity and gas consumption in our core office spaces.
- Tracking staff travel patterns and encouraging low-emission alternatives.
- Identifying emissions hotspots in our procurement practices and partnerships.
A full baseline report will be published in 2025.
4. Key Actions (2025–2030)
To reduce our emissions in line with a science-based pathway, we are implementing the following measures:
🏢 Buildings & Energy Use
- Transitioning to 100% renewable electricity in all properties we manage.
- Introducing energy-efficient appliances and lighting across supported living spaces.
- Conducting annual energy audits of office and residential units.
🚶♀️ Staff Travel
- Prioritising local recruitment to reduce commuting distances.
- Promoting active travel and public transport through flexible working policies and travel schemes.
- Phasing out reliance on petrol/diesel pool vehicles and encouraging EV leasing where feasible.
📦 Procurement & Waste
- Engaging suppliers to assess and improve their carbon footprint.
- Implementing a low-waste policy across all service settings.
- Reviewing food, equipment, and uniform supply chains for sustainable alternatives.
📊 Monitoring & Training
- Appointing a Net Zero Lead responsible for tracking and reporting emissions data annually.
- Delivering climate awareness training to all employees.
- Publishing annual progress reports on our website.
5. Offsetting and Long-Term Goals
By 2040, we aim to reduce 90% of our operational emissions. Any remaining emissions will be offset through:
- Verified carbon offset schemes (UK woodland creation or international Gold Standard projects).
- Partnership in local climate initiatives such as Stockport’s tree planting or urban greening projects.
6. Governance and Transparency
Our Board of Directors has approved this Net Zero Plan. Progress is reviewed annually and published online to ensure transparency and accountability.
We welcome collaboration with our commissioners, partners, and community stakeholders to contribute to a greener, more sustainable social care sector.
